Description

Several preliminary editions from Adidas Adizero Sub2 had been used by Adidas' top athletes like Wilson Kipsang or Dennis Kimetto (who still holds marathon's World Record with impressive 2h02'57" from Berlin 2014) but were not available to regular runners, although initial price around 160 dollars does not quite encourage sales. The new Sub2 can be placed between radical Takumi Sen and fantastic Adizero Adios Boost 3 within Adizero lineup from Adidas, a great option for very special events.

A large marketing budget is not only in place to compete against Breaking2 from Nike and its commercial running shoe (not really racing flat) Nike Zoom Fly but also to release interesting features. Ultralight and clean upper is made of really thin mesh (Microfit) without overlays and even world-famous 3 stripes are just painted on external side. There is a heel counter to provide some consistence and reduced internal straps for snug fit. The idea behind Adizero Sub2 is to offer minimum protection and full freedom of movement so faster runners can perform at their best.

The most interesting part in the Adizero Sub2 is the midsole completely made of new Boost Light™ foam featuring 6 mm drop. As expected, marketing pitch promises improved response with lower weight, something that must be verified by unbiased runners. Adidas continues partnership with renowned tyre manufacturer Continental® to create excellent outsoles and new MicroWeb™ configuration is based on well known StretchWeb™ concept already available in other popular Adidas running shoes like Adizero Boston 6. Lug pattern and flexibility grooves are not really deep raising fair concerns about durability not being its main strength.
