The Asics Gel DS Trainer 22 adds latest technology from the japanese brand with FlyteFoam™ in midsole, something which was only available so far in premium (aka high price tag) running shoes like Kayano 23. As a versatile running shoe with support for moderate pronation the DS Trainer 22 is a perfect choice for speed workouts, interval training and racing long distances up to marathon. Like in previous releases, there is available an edition without medial post for neutral runners named "NC" or "Neutral".
Upper does not change much compared to its predecessor Gel DS Trainer 21, just minimal redistribution of fused elements over engineered mesh for improved fit. Heel counter combined with TPU unit (Propulsion Trusstic®) in midfoot feature a reliable stability. As seen in other popular Asics models like Gel Cumulus 18, ComforDry™ sockliner not only enhances interior's dealing with odour and moisture but also increases comfort with softer feel.
As mentioned above, major change is the addition of FlyteFoam™ in midsole for more responsive cushioning. Progressive pronation support is provided by classical medial post (dual density Dynamic DuoMax®) in the internal side. Outsole includes typical vertical flex groove (Guidance Line®) for smooth ride with minor changes in lug pattern and offers different rubber depending on the area with DuoSole® (the "DS" in the name stands for "Duo Sole") in the forefoot for quick toe-off and AHAR+ in more exposed ones for increased durability.
