Description

The renovation of the Salomon Sense Ride 3, one of the most versatile models of the French brand, causes the logical expectation to know if the changes will improve the shoe or ruin it. The slight price increase and the change in the midsole seeks to make a more explicit niche for its little sister Sense Sense 4 Pro before moving on to the more radical S-Lab Sense 8 within the Trail Running collection. What remains intact is the spirit of a versatile shoe suitable for multutud scenarios and with the quality of materials and good work of the prestigious brand Salomon. As usual and with the consequent increase in both weight and price, there are editions available with waterproof membrane Gore-Tex® (GTX) for those who enjoy running in more demanding weather conditions.

It must be acknowledged that the upper has improved over its predecessor Sense Ride 2, which is now much cleaner thanks to a single-layer mesh that integrates both SensiFit™ webbing for a good foot fit and heat-sealed protections. The rest remains the same, from the bootie-like interior (EndoFit™) that prevents the introduction of dust or annoying pebbles providing greater comfort to the great Quicklace™ lacing system made of reliable Kevlar thread that not only offers a personalized fit but also in the fastest possible way so that the surplus can be collected in the practical pocket that incorporates the tongue to avoid snagging any branch on the road. The removable Ortholite® insole is of a quality to match the retail price and offers both antibacterial treatment and extra cushioning.

The great novelty of this Sense Ride 3 is a midsole that not only grows vertically on the sides (especially at the rear) to offer better stability but also features Optivibe, a combination of foams (Energy Cell and Opal) that improve dynamic behavior by better absorbing vibrations in order to reduce muscle fatigue. The outsole presents a very similar configuration in terms of lugging and is made of Contagrip® MA, which is a mixed compound with good results in both traction and durability. What is maintained is the TPU (ProFeel Film) layer to protect the sole from sharp elements such as rock edges whose stiffness is partially compensated by the numerous flex grooves on the outsole.
