Description

What a change features the new Nike Pegasus Trail 2, which is no longer an adapted version of the road running shoe but a product with its own personality following latest trends. From the visual point of view it seems a mix between New Balance Fresh Foam Hierro v5 and Nike Wildhorse 6, obviously sharing more things with it fellow member of the Nike Trail lineup. Once it has its own numbering (there no such thing out there like Pegasus 37 Trail, just Air Zoom Pegasus 37), we will need to wait to see if it also gets its own name.

As expected, many things change from its predecessor Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Trail, starting with the bulky upper plenty of striking colors. Rear area get inspired by mentioned Nike Wildhorse 6 with oversized hook and fake gaiter around the ankle which not only improves fit but also prevents debris and dust of going inside. Neoprene-like tongue and the huge amount of ventilation holes enhance breathability and the chance to evacuate water faster in the case of partial (or even complete) immersion. Another interesting thing is the design of toe bumper which is extended from the outsole with a couple of wings for better integration with the rest of the running shoe.

Rest of Pegasus Trail 2 also gets revamped with a completely new and full length React midsole intead of the reliable combination of Cushlon and Zoom Air® units. Lateral grooves in midsole's wall should help regarding flexibility to adapt better to uneven grounds, but please don't expect this Pegasus Trail 2 to perform at the same level than specific trail running shoes on the most complicated scenarios. Its outsole is more or less similar to the one featured in the other member of the Nike Trail lineup Nike Zoom Terra Kiger 6 but without its wonderful rock plate and not as good performer over technical terrains.
